Hello! If you’re so inclined, go ahead and click over to Parlour Magazine to read my introductory post “My marriage moved me to Amsterdam.” If you’re further inclined, please leave a comment because I’m terribly interested in your thoughts. I hope you are all having a great day today and had an awesome weekend! I’ve been out of the house all day, writing in a bit of a frenzy. I finally felt like I’ve found a slice of normality here. I’m always complaining about not being able to feel really lost or just alone because I want to and today I went to a lounge and just sat and wrote all day long. I didn’t know anyone in there and with the wifi free and full, I got so much done! I am going to make a habit of doing it for a full work day at least twice a week.

I’ve been continuing with my meditations and I even did a bit of yoga on Saturday. Funny thing about yoga, every time I start up with it, I end up doing A LOT of bike riding coincidentally the same day. So yes, I’m a bit sore. Dennis had a finissage on Saturday for a new collection of work he illustrated and it was quite nice. We spent the day chatting away with friends then going out for dinner with a few. How was your weekend?

the weekend

Since last week Thursday I’ve had this surge of productivity and I’ve gotten so so much done in that time. Exhibit A: take a peek at the sidebar. I got up Saturday morning and learned how to make that myself. It might seem trivial, but it’s been a good decade since I’ve played with PS so I’m really proud of all the improvements I’ve been making gradually over the past few months. Self-sufficiency is awesome. I’ll be making more adjustments over time.

Unfortunately, I never had the larger shop update–it’s on hold until I can either get great light or have Dennis photograph it for me this week. Light has been so sparse around here. We’ve been covered in a cloud of grey for days. By 5:30 it’s almost pitch black outside. Drastic difference from full light well past 10p in the summer.

Things to get used to.

Because I wasn’t able to photograph the jewelry I made the previous week, it gave me more time to make some new things. 10 more necklaces and a bracelet to be exact as of today. I have been having the most difficult time ever finding a course I can take on wax carving so I can make my own pieces. My wish is to have it produced locally, but I’m okay with it being produced elsewhere. If you know anyone/anywhere in Holland I can go, shoot me a message please!

While I’m searching for that, I do have far too many seed beads than a normal person should have. I don’t think I’ll be making hoop earrings anymore, but I’ve turned my attention elsewhere: necklaces and bracelets. It is less stressful on my eyes to make this instead. Perhaps because there is just less to work with. So when I do finally get this all photographed properly, there will be one massive shop update. I’m hoping for next Tuesday instead.

I also have two other special announcements that I’ll get to talk about next week that I honestly can’t wait to share. I’m really excited about both of these opportunities and it just feels like it’s happening at the prefect moment. Everything is just making sense.

How was your weekend? Anything magical happen to you?

happy monday and cheers to productivity

So this weekend didn’t pan out like I had hoped it would, jewelry making wise. I definitely made up for it today though. I made 10 new necklaces today, that I’ll show proper photos of tomorrow. I did manage to get outside most of the weekend and enjoy some live music which was nice. Pixel has taken to sleeping in bed with us at night over the past few days. He’s been good at taking some of his day naps in our bed, but now for the most part he’ll jump on to the bed and pass out without any trouble. How was your weekend?

happy monday

First off, happy October! This year is totally breezing by. For real.

I really hope that you guys had an amazing weekend. I was home alone all weekend and used my time fairly wisely. I spent Saturday in the park with my friend, Tu-Linh just basking in our summer in October sun. We made our own mimosas and ate bread with a garlick-y cream cheese. Yummers. Sunday I spent the entire morning washing load after load of clothes then spent the entire night skyping with my mom. Fun times.
