Occasionally, I’ll bring to you artists that I know/love/respect to broaden our musical scope. Music is definitely a way to learn about someone and in a way explains sort of the mood and inspiration behind what drives me creatively. So I guess I’m teaching my process. These people are major factors in that process.
Iman Williams is this beautiful songbird hails from Montgomery Alabama and lucky for us all, was engulfed in soul from the very start.
LR: What is your most favorite thing in this world, and why? IW:I would say no one THING is my favorite because I don’t like to put too much into one THING, however…LOL I have a favorite person which would be my 2 year old son Saaid. He’s a wonderful and intelligent being containing the likes of me and his father (Kahlil). We’re both musically so naturally it’s embedded in him. He’s beat boxing already LOL
LR: That’s awesome! What words of encouragement do you give yourself? IW:I always tell myself that nothing can end me but me so it’s important that I do ALL I can to be a better ME whether it’s physically, mentally, emotionally, or musically.
Take a listen, and also check out her video below.
Not only is today National Pink Day (in America. I kid you not. Check the link)…
It is also the day of the album release for Ragen Fykes!!! That’s my homie from another set of parents on the other side of the country, but the love is all the way live and all the way there.
And how dope is it that she’s reppin’ the lovely color pink in the album cover too?!
This is why she’s hot. And I know I’ve spoken about her before.
Take a listen here.
You really ought to buy this album.
The album is on Record Breaking, the owner is a very cool dude and he has a radio show in Philly.

Me: What is your most favorite thing in this world, and why?
She: love. because it moves, motivates, and inspires me. because through honest, loving eyes i see the world and am learning to appreciate myself.
Me: What words of encouragement do you give yourself? or What has someone told you that you always remind yourself of?
She: i always remind myself that i do things the right way for me. i was born 2 months premature and my mother was told that i was too small, too sickly, and had lost too much oxygen to be “okay.” i’m nearly 30 and refuse to believe that anything but sheer will drives me.
And she’s only my second interview in my i {heart} series. And she answered my two rather thought-provoking questions fairly quickly. I’m making more of an effort at interviewing folks that I dig so look for a mixture of my just hearting and my interviewing people in the internetsss.
Me: What is your most favorite thing in this world, and why?
She: My most favorite thing in the world is the weather. It’s the one thing that everyone can talk about, that affects everyone living together. It has the ability to give us a great day with sunshine, or keep us all inside. We can deny a lot of things about ourselves and our world, but we can’t deny the weather.
Me: What words of encouragement do you give yourself? or What has someone told you that you always remind yourself of?
She: If someone tells you who they are, believe them.- Maya Angelou
Word. Solid advice. And from someone who shares her name. Double word.

Not only do they have the cutest fingerless gloves.
Not only are they all moderately priced (you could easily buy a pair for every day of the week. Or in all primary colors. Or to match your fave outfits.)
But they money goes to awesome causes.
And it’s made in awesome ways.
In their own words:
“*10% of all sales are donated to autism research – our 4-year old son has autism and this is our way of GIVING BACK to those who’ve helped us!
*You’re supporting the REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE philosophy”
And in this world, that is an amazing thing to be able to do. To honestly give back. So please go support this shop.
I didn’t fully understand him until I met my (now) fiance.
Didn’t realize he was behind everything I pretty much ever loved and still listen to constantly.
Didn’t realize he was here and was gone, just like that.
I never knew he existed while he was present on Earth, but I felt him.
Every time I listened to anything.
Lupus took his life.
But he still lives on.
I’ve been listening to anything Dilla touched that’s on my itunes all day today.
He passed 3 years ago, today. Three days after his birthday.
God blessed his soul.
He leaves behind 2 daughters, a sweet mother and trifling lawyers.
All of these wonderful knits are in some of the yummiest colors and just look like a delight to wear!
I often fantasize of wearing cowls. In all different colors. All different sizes.
They fascinate me. They aren’t really a scarf and they are super nice and chunky.
